CDM World Agency continues global expansion

April 9, 2010 – 2:44 pm by Gina Monari

With the acquisition of market-leading agencies in Paris, Milan, and Montreal, CDM World Agency has satisfied its initial objective of establishing CDM-owned and operated agencies in the top five European markets, plus Canada and Brazil — the countries where CDM’s clients need service most. The group will now turn its attention to China, where it expects to launch an operation later this year.

Boom Works CDM Montreal is led by Managing Director Jamie Fisher; Arsenal CDM Paris is led by Managing Director Eric Romoli, and CDM Milan is led by Managing Director Ignazio Iasiello. All of CDM’s ex-U.S. agencies report to Eric Berkeley, director of global operations. In the case of France and Canada, CDM will retain the original agency name through the launch period, allowing the agency to use the equity these agencies have built in their home market as they are introduced to the CDM brand. While no definitive timetable has been set, CDM will eventually shed the original agency names.

“With these acquisitions in Paris, Milan and Montreal, we can now offer our clients world-class resources across the US, Top 5 European markets, Canada, and Brazil, clearly positioning CDM as the world’s premier healthcare communications network,” says Ed Wise, chairman and CEO, CDM. “We will offer our clients a global talent pool devoted to the needs of the healthcare industry, providing a truly international point of view and immediate access to information, ideas, and local expertise around the world.”

Although most healthcare agency networks are built through local affiliates, CDM has made a conscious decision to make acquisitions in each market. This gives the group the ownership and operational control necessary to solve problems quickly and easily for clients, install consistent working practices around the world, and ensure that the caliber of resources clients expect from CDM are available in each and every market.

CDM’s global strategy is designed to challenge the existing global network model through its ability to deploy resources from offices around the world on any given project. CDM will offer its clients a global talent pool devoted to the healthcare industry, which will provide a truly international point of view.

Executives say all of CDM’s agencies share the same cultural values and capabilities that have made CDM successful during the years — a commitment to employees and a dedication to creativity and deep-seated medical and scientific knowledge. In addition to their local expertise, each of the offices is strong enough to lead either regional or global business. This gives CDM great flexibility when developing multinational service models for its clients.
